TNPSC Group 1 Age Limit
TNPSC Group 1 Age Limit Details of 2022 Notification are given below. Kindly refer whether you are eligible to apply. For the Year of 2022, the age limit is increased by two years to all the categories.

2022 - "Two Years extended for all category"
Note:-
- As per G.O (Ms) No.93, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (M) Department, dated 17.07.2018, the Maximum Age Limit has been enhanced by 2 years. As per G.O (Ms) No.91, Human Resources Management (S) Department, dated 13.09.2021, the Maximum Age Limit prescribed for appointment by direct recruitment has been enhanced by another 2 years.
- “Others” [i.e., Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, BCMs] who have put in five years and more of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit. (For further details refer para 3(F) of “Instructions to Applicants” and Section 3(r) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016)
AGE CONCESSION:
(i) For Persons with Benchmark Disability :
Persons with Benchmark Disability are eligible for age concession upto 10 years over and above the maximum age limit prescribed above. (Section 64 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016 and as per Para 5D of “Instructions to Applicants”)
(ii) For Ex-Servicemen :
- The Maximum age limit is 55 years for the applicants who belongs to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s and BCMs.
- The maximum age limit is 50 years for “Others” (i.e.) applicants not belonging to any of the above said categories. [Section 63 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016 and as per G.O (Ms) No.91, Human Resources Management (S) Department, dated 13.09.2021].
- The above mentioned age concession will not apply to the Ex-servicemen applicants who have already been recruited to any class or service or category. [Section 3(j) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016]

TNPSC Group 1 Posts and Eligibility
Educational Qualification
Applicants should possess the following or its equivalent qualification:-
Applicants should possess a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or any other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
Provided that, other things being equal, preference will be given to the applicants, who possess the qualification mentioned against each of the following posts:-


[Applicants to be admitted to the Main Written Examination should upload and submit evidence relating to all claims including preferential qualifications, if any, claimed by them when called for]
Note:-
- The educational qualifications prescribed for these posts should have been obtained by passing the required qualification in the following order of studies viz. 10th + HSC / Diploma or its equivalent + U.G. Degree as required under Section 25 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016.
- The applicants, who have written the final year degree examination, may also apply for the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Combined Civil Services-I (Group-I Services), subject to the condition that they should produce the proof of having passed the degree examination while uploading the original documents for the Main Written Examination (last date for this activity would be announced later) failing which they will not be admitted to the Main Written Examination.
- The applicants, who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S or any other Medical Examination, but have not completed the Internship, may also apply to the Preliminary Examination for direct recruitment to the posts included in Combined Civil Services-I (Group-I Services), subject to the condition that they should submit a copy of certificate from the authority concerned of the University/Institution that they had passed the requisite final professional Medical Examination, when admitted to the Main Written Examination. In such cases, the applicants will be required to produce at the time of their certificate verification for oral test, original degree or a certificate from the concerned competent authority of the University/ Institution that they had completed all requirements (including completion of Internship) for the award of the degree.
- Applicants claiming equivalence of qualification to the prescribed qualification should upload and submit evidence for equivalence of qualification in the form of Government Order issued on or before the date of this notification when called for, failing which, their application will be summarily rejected after due process. The Government Orders regarding equivalence of qualification issued after the date of this notification will not be accepted.

Physical Qualification
Applicants applying for the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category.I) must possess the following Physical Qualifications:-

Certificate for Physical Qualification
i. Among the applicants to be admitted to the Main Written Examination those who opt for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I) should produce certificate from a Medical Officer of/or above the rank of an Assistant Surgeon appointed by the Government to the Government Medical Institution obtained on or after 21.07.2022 containing the following particulars when called for:-

- However, in the case of women applicants applying for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I) chest measurement need not be specified in the said certificate.
- The applicants who fail to produce the Physical Qualification Certificate along with other documents when called for, will not be considered for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I). Subsequent claims will not be entertained.
- An applicant selected for appointment to the post of Deputy Collector must satisfy the Medical Board in Tamil Nadu as to his/her physique, fitness and capacity for active outdoor work.
- An applicant selected for appointment to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category – I) must satisfy the Medical Board in Tamil Nadu as to his/her physique, fitness and capacity for active outdoor work and must be certified by the Superintendent of Government Ophthalmic Hospital in Chennai that his/her vision comes upto the requirements prescribed in the rules without the use of contact glasses.
- Applicants with defective vision should upload and submit Eye Fitness Certificate from a qualified eye specialist when called for along with other documents.
- The applicants once selected by the Commission to the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category-I) based on their option but who failed to satisfy the Medical Board in respect of their Physical fitness will forfeit their selection and they will not be considered for re-allotment to any other posts.
Certificate of Physical Fitness
Applicants selected for appointment to the posts included in Combined Civil Services-I (Group-I Services) will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness in the form prescribed below before his/her appointment. The model format is enclosed with Annexure II of the notification. The said Certificate should be submitted by the selected candidate to the Appointing Authority at the time of joining to the said post.

Applicants with defective vision should produce Eye Fitness Certificate from a qualified Eye Specialist working in Government Hospital.
TNPSC Group 1 Exam Fee Details
Applications are invited only through online mode for direct recruitment against the vacancies in the following posts included in Combined Civil Services Examination – I (Group-1 Services)

Examination Fee Concessions

Note:-
- The total number of free chances availed will be calculated on the basis of claims made in previous applications.
- The number of free chances availed by the applicant will be verified by the Commission at any stage of the selection process.
- In case an applicant who makes a false claim for exemption from payment of application fee by suppressing information regarding his previous application(s), his candidature shall be rejected after due process and he shall be debarred for a period of one year from appearing for examinations and selections conducted by the Commission.
- Applicants are directed to carefully choose the option ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in the online application regarding availing the fee concession.
- Applicants are advised in their own interest, to keep an account of the number of times fee concession availed, irrespective of the information displayed in the of the applicant dashboard.
- An application (irrespective of the post applied for) claiming fee concession will operate to exclude one chance from the number of free chances allowed.
- Applicants who have availed the maximum number of free chances permitted / applicants who do not wish to avail of the fee concession / applicants who are not eligible for fee concession, shall choose the option ‘No’ against the query regarding fee concession in the online application. Such applicants shall thereafter pay the requisite fee through the prescribed mode of payment.
- Failure to pay the prescribed fee in time, along with the online application will result in the rejection of application after due process. (For further details regarding examination fee concessions refer to Para 6 of “Instructions to Applicants”)

Mode of Payment of Examination fee
- Preliminary Examination fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only), is payable by online through Net Banking / Credit card / Debit card on or before the date of submission of online application by choosing the option in the online application.
- Applicants have to pay the service charges also as applicable.
- Applicants can avail exemption from paying examination fee as per eligibility criteria.
- Offline mode of payment, if any received in the form of demand draft / postal order etc. will not be accepted and the applications forwarded with such modes of payment will be summarily rejected and the same will not be either returned or refunded.
- The Commission is not responsible for online payment failure or delayed reconciliation of fee by the banks.

TNPSC Group 1 Posts Selection Procedure 2022
The selection will be made in three successive stages viz.,
(i) Preliminary Examination for selection of candidates for admission to the Main Written Examination
(ii) Main Written Examination and
(iii) an Oral Test in the shape of an Interview.
The Preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Written Examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Written Examination will be 20 times the number of candidates to be recruited having regard to the rule of reservation of appointments. However, in each reservation group, all the candidates who secure the same marks as that of cut off marks of their reservation groups shall also be admitted to the Main Written Examination, though the number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Written Examination may exceed 1:20 ratio. No supplemental list will be published in the place of rejected candidates (or) candidates who have failed to send documents for verification. The final selection will be made based on the total marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Written Examination Paper-II, Paper-III, Paper-IV and Oral Test taken together, subject to Rule of Reservation of Appointments.

TNPSC Group 1 Prelims Exam Pattern 2022
- Single paper
- Objective Type Questions
- Degree Standard
- TNPSC Group 1 Prelims exam is a qualifying exam.
- The minimum mark required to qualify for this exam is 90.
- There will be one paper with a total of 200 questions which carries a total of 300 marks.
- The questions will be in objective type.
- The time duration of the TNPSC Group 1 Prelims exam is 3 hours.
- The Language of Question paper is in both English or Tamil.

TNPSC Group 1 Mains Exam Pattern 2022
- There are four papers
- The TNPSC Group 1 Mains Exam is split into four papers. Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3, Paper 4
- The Paper 1 is Compulsory Tamil Language cum Eligibility(Qualifying Paper)
- The Paper 2, 3, 4 are General Studies(Descriptive Type Questions).
- Paper 1 is 100 marks & remaining papers are 250 marks.
- Candidates will have to score the minimum qualifying marks in Paper 1 which is 40 out of 100.
- Finally, Interview for Selected Group 1 Mains Candidates.
- For Paper 2, 3, 4 & Interview combined, minimum qualifying mark is 340 marks.
- Only Paper 2, 3, 4 & Interview Marks are considered for selecting TNPSC Group 1 Posts.

Note:-
- The questions on General Studies for Preliminary and Main Written Examination will be set both in Tamil and English.
- The Main Written Examination answer sheets of Paper-II, Paper-III and Paper-IV will be evaluated, only if the candidate secures minimum qualifying marks [40%-i.e., 40 marks] in Paper-I and the marks secured in Paper-I will not be taken into account for ranking. Refer G.O.(Ms) No.133, Human Resources Management (M) Department, dated 01.12.2021.
- Appearance in all the papers of the Main Written Examination and the Oral Test is compulsory. Candidates who have not appeared for any one or more papers of the Main Written Examination, shall not be considered for selection, even if they secure the minimum qualifying marks for selection.
- However, as per the orders issued in G.O. (Ms) No.49, Human Resources Management (M) Department, dated 23.05.2022, the differently abled candidates can avail exemption from writing Paper-I (Tamil Eligibility Test). Such candidate have to furnish the required details in the online application without fail. Subsequent claim will receive no attention. The candidates need to upload Disability Certificate (Refer Annexure-III) as prescribed in G.O. (Ms) No. 08, Welfare of Differently Abled Persons (DAP-3.2) Department dated 21.09.2021.
- Refer Para 17 of “Instructions to Applicants” in regard to instructions to be followed while appearing for competitive examinations conducted by the Commission.

The Preliminary Examination will be held at the following Centres:

- Applicant shall choose any two of the above Centres for appearing for writing the Preliminary Examination. Applicants will be allotted a venue in any one of these two centres. However, applicants with benchmark disability (Differently –Abled Persons applicants with 40% and above), will be permitted to choose only one District Centre. - Request for change of examination centre will not be permitted (For further details refer Para 17(A)(ii) of “Instructions to Applicants”)
- The Commission reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of examination centres and to re-allot the applicants accordingly.

How to Apply
- Applicants should apply only through online mode in the Commission’s website www.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpscexams.in
- ‘One Time Registration’ using Aadhaar is mandatory before applying for any post. Applicant should register only once in the One Time Registration by paying Rs.150/- as registration fee. Successfully registered One Time Registration is valid for five years from the date of registration. All the applications should be submitted using the One Time Registration ID and password registered by the applicant.
- To apply under One Time Registration System, applicants should have a scanned image of their photograph, certificates specified, if any, and signature in CD/DVD/Pen Drive to upload the same, as per the specifications given in the guidelines for scanning and uploading of photograph and signature.
- No applicant is permitted to create more than one registration ID under One Time Registration System.
- Applicants should enter the Unique ID and Password to view the already available information and update them. They shall not share the ID / PASSWORD with any other Person or Agency.
- One Time Registration is not an application for any post. It is just a collection of information from the applicants and provides a separate dashboard to each applicant to facilitate maintenance of their own profile. Applicants who wish to apply for this recruitment shall click “Apply” against the recruitment notified in the Commission’s website using the same USER ID and PASSWORD given for ONE TIME REGISTRATION.
- Applicants should select the name of the post / Recruitment for which the applicant wishes to apply.
- Online applications uploaded without the photograph, details of specified documents and signature will be rejected after due process.
- All the particulars mentioned in the online application will be considered as final and no modifications will be allowed after the last date for submission of the online application.
